General directives

Notice: Your repertoire list must comply with the “Repertoire Guidelines”, as specified in the rules.

Preselection

  1. Program that comprises four works or excerpts by different composers representing various styles and periods (including one opera aria). Candidates must choose works in at least three different languages (including Italian, French and German).

Maximum time: 45 minutes

First Elimination

  1. Program that comprises works by different composers representing various styles and periods.

Maximum time: 40 minutes

Semi-Final

  1. Program that comprises works by different composers representing various styles and periods.
  2. Compulsory new Canadian work — Providing the obtainment of a grant from the Canada Council for the Arts (CCA) for commissioning works as part of the Stepping Stone, selected candidates will receive the score by email six weeks before the start of the official Competition. (Duration of 5 minutes; not included in the 60 minutes maximum timing ie 7.12).

Maximum time: 60 minutes

Final

  1. Two opera arias.
  2. One or two works for voice and orchestra.
